Founded with the vision to empower women in the mathematical sciences at the University of British Columbia.
AWM @ UBC is the University of British Columbia's student chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics — dedicated to encouraging women and girls in mathematical sciences.
We are student-run, student-led, and student-powered. Our executive team represents diverse backgrounds, year groups, and mathematical interests — all united by a shared commitment to making mathematics a discipline where everyone can flourish.
This chapter helps women-identifying undergraduate mathematics students to connect, to know their classmates, and to feel a sense of community.
We work closely with the UBC Department of Mathematics and are proud to have departmental support.
Everything we do flows from a clear set of goals and the values that anchor them.
Create a welcoming, inclusive space where women in mathematics feels seen, heard, and valued.
Connect students across all year levels through structured mentorship programs and peer support.
Expose members to diverse career paths through panels, workshops, and industry connections.
To build spaces of genuine belonging and break isolation.
Our community is open to all female-identifying students at UBC who have an interest in mathematics — regardless of your background, year, or program.
